Event Date: Saturday Sept 18, 2021.

Join us for our Inaguaral Member BBQ Rib Cook-Off!  Cooks will be onsite starting at 8am to check in and set up.  Event begins at 3pm. Cooking ends at 4pm with judging 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. Rib tickets good for one rib.  Voting by attendees will select the "Peoples Choice" for award of Peoples Choice Trophy.   Ribs and side buffet begin at 5:30pm.  For those that like an added excitement, we will have a mechanichal bull on site (rides $5).  Music and happy hour all day.  Guests are welcome (regular guest fees apply).  Please NO OUTSIDE FOOD or PETS for this event.


Rib Cook-Off Schedule:
8:00am Check in/site set up
9:00am Cook's Meeting/Rib distribution
4:00pm Cooking ends/ turn in to judges
4:30pm Turn in time expires/ Judging begins/ Awards
5:30pm Dinner
Prizes:Prizes 1st - 50%, 2nd - 30%, 3rd - 10% percentage of entry fees: We would like to have a minimum of 10 competitors
Cook's Entry Fee: $50 per team
Judges: Three (3) Independent judges. Scores will be based on appearance, tenderness, texture and taste. Scoring system will be 10(excellent) to 2 (bad). A disqualification score of (1) will be given if the meat pulls off the rib bone. The teams with the highest scores will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Attendees can purchase tickets to trade one ticket for one rib. The team that acquires most votes from public will win the People's Choice Trophy.
Rib Cook-off Rules:
1). A team consists of one (1) chief cook and one (1) assistant
2). Each team is to provide a grill/cooker that is exclusively used by your team. Wood, charcoal, gas/propane and smoker type bbq's are allowed. Charcoal or wood bbq's must have proper disposal buckets and taken with you.
3). Each team provides all their own equipment, ice chests, tables, chairs, tents, utensils, supplies and a portable wash station.
4). A 10x20 space will be provided for each team.
5). Electricity is not provided and generators are not allowed.
6). A minimum of 3 racks (based upon attendance up to 10) will be provided by EL and will be distributed to the cooks by 9am.
7). Cooking may begin following the cooks meeting at 9am; those that need shorter cooking time can delay your start as needed
8). Only provided ribs may be cooked during the competition
9). Ribs to be seasoned and cooked on site within the confines of your cooking space.
10). Ribs may be seasoned, sauced or not, and cooked in a manner you feel will deliver a competitive product in the time allowed.
11). Each team will place 3 ribs individually cut ribs into your turn in box and will be provided to the staff. No identifying marks to be put on turn in box.
12). No garnishments, side sauce or any other objects such as foil, toothpicks, or skewers are allowed in the turn in box
13). No ice or water will be provided
14) Safe food handling guidelines must be followed. Cooks are to wear gloves while preparing and handling food.
15) Shirts and shoes must be worn throughout the competition and no use of tobacco products while handling the meat.
Tickets: Rib tickets can be purchased in advance for $3/rib or 3/$8 and save!
Day of rib purchase $5 per rib. Complete your meal with a side of baked beans, full salad bar, rolls, butter for just $10. Happy hour specials all-day!
Added FUN!! For those of the most daring we will have a mechanical bull on site. Tickets for $5 per ride and can be purchased on site.
